The missing obelisk lies on the northern edge of the obelisk quarry, which is the most important granite quarry in Aswan; it was discovered in 2005 in the quarries of Aswan where its stones were used to build the pyramid group of King Khufu and also cut many obelisks.

Egypt needed its time for material support to build the High Dam and went to borrow from the World Bank, but it was unable to do so. At that time, President Gamal Abdel Nasser decided to go to the Soviet Union, which funded the project to build the High Dam in the days of its President Khrushchev
