Abu Simbel temples are situated on the western bank of Lake Nasser, The great temple of Rameses II and the smaller temple of his wife Nefertari are cut deep into the rock. The great temple with its huge façade with four impressive statues of Ramses is dedicated Amon-Re, RA-Horakhty, Ptah, and Ramses II as a deified god. Whilst the smaller temple is dedicated to the goddess Hathor and Nefertari deified as a goddess.
The complex was relocated in its entirety in 1968 on an artificial hill made from a domed structure, high above the Aswan High Dam reservoir. The two temples were cut into 1036 huge pieces, and then rebuilt in the new location. The relocation of the temples was necessary, or they would have been submerged during the creation of Lake Nasser, the massive artificial water reservoir formed after the building of the Aswan High Dam on the River Nile.
At the end of the tour you will be transferred to Abu Simbel Airport for your flight back to Aswan and transport back to your hotel.
