After breakfast, it’s a time to enjoy our sightseeing journey. Visit one of the Seven Wonders of the World the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx that large statue which is one of the most famous monuments in the whole world (Optional Camel ride for 20 – 30 minutes). Esna is located about 33 miles (53 km) south of Luxor. Boats travelling between Edfu and Luxor must pass through the Esna Lock. It will be between 9 pm and dark or it depends on the sailing boat itinerary when the Nile cruise ship arrive but that didn’t stop us from heading to the top deck for a photo op. Two riverboats can fit into the lock at the same time. The process of filling and emptying the lock is fast (maybe 5-6 minutes); most of the time is spent waiting for your turn to enter the lock and getting the boats in position.
