Dahshur is a royal necropolis located in the desert on the west bank of the Nile approximately 40 kilometres south of Cairo. It is known chiefly for several pyramids, two of which are among the oldest, largest and best preserved in Egypt.
The Bent pyramid at Dahshur
The second Pyramid of the pharaoh Senfru is The Bent pyramid at Dahshur 40 km away from Giza Pyramid.
The Bent pyramid is a fascinating structure which raises as many questions as it answers about the evolution of the pyramid because the ancient Egyptians didn’t build these great Pyramids in one time.
It takes many trails till they reached the peak of architectures at the great pyramid of Giza The Bent pyramid started at one angle approx. 52 degrees and then suddenly changes to a more gradual angle of 43 degrees.
This odd arrangement provides this pyramid with a distinctive and unique appearance. There are many possible reasons for this change in angle.
Currently the most widely accepted theory is that the original angle resulted in displacement of many blocks and cracking of the blocks that lined the chambers and passageways. This theory continues that the gentler angle was employed to reduce the amount of weight to be added above these chambers and passageways.
Another theory goes to the pharaoh Sneferu realized that if he were to continue the pyramid at its initial angle, it would rise to a height which would require a tremendous amount of material and labors and I think it is a very weak theory but this pyramid the only one still has its outer case .
The question is why the king finished the outer case of the bent pyramid and he didn’t use it?
Especially he built another Pyramid called the Red Pyramid or the north Pyramid of Dahshur.
Sakkara also spelled Saqqara is a vast, ancient burial ground in Egypt, serving as the necropolis for the Ancient Egyptian capital, Memphis. Sakkara features numerous pyramids, including the world famous Step Pyramid of king Djoser or Zoser the oldest pyramid in Egypt.
The Step Pyramid of King Zoser in Sakkara now is under restoration the Pyramid is 62 meter high and consist of 6 steps and this was the begging of the pyramid building after that there was a huge developments happened in the Pyramid building, this Pyramid has very sophisticated interior plan and it was looted before. The Pyramids of Egypt in Skkara beside the Step Pyramid is Userkaf Pyramid it is located.Beside the step pyramid it is about 44 Meter high and it is destroyed completely
