Stop At: Giza Pyramids Tours, Cairo Egypt

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before your personal driver and private guide collect you from your hotel in downtown Cairo or Giza at 8:30am, for the short drive to the UNESCO-listed Giza Pyramids in air-conditioned comfort.

Your Egyptologist guide will introduce the three great pyramids, each the tomb of an ancient king: Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. You’ll have time to explore around these wonders of the ancient world, capture iconic shots from a distance, or perhaps even enter one of the pyramids (additional cost).

Next, your guide will escort you across the Giza Plateau to the feet of the Sphinx, the oldest monumental statue in the world, and an awe-inspiring sight even today. Should you wish, you can also choose to visit the Solar Boat Museum, home to the remarkably well-preserved funerary boat of the ancient Egyptian Pharaoh Khufu (additional charge).

Lunch is at your own expense. Your guide can recommend restaurants to suit your tastes in either Cairo or Giza before you drive to the heart of Cairo, Tahrir Square, and the famous Egyptian Museum, home to countless ancient Egyptian artifacts.

The priceless treasures of the boy-king Tutankhamun are the highlight here: his six gilded coffins dominate the main hall, while his magnificent death mask is a star attraction. Your guide will introduce you to this and the museum’s other most important pieces before you have free time to explore at your own pace.

Depending on time, you’ll have time to visit a papyrus institute to see how ancient scrolls were made from Nile reeds, and perhaps purchase some authentic papyrus to take home. Your last stop will be Cairo’s medieval Khan al-Khalili bazaar, a bustling market with a warren of alleys that are home to a myriad souvenir stalls: from here, you’ll drive back to your hotel, arriving around 4pm.
